A DAY OF SWOONS

Adamo, whose fans adore him to this day. His beautiful ballad 'Inch Allah' was widely banned throughout the Middle East as being too sympathetic to Israel.

Of course Anya was in an absolute SWOON when I got to school – we didn’t stop talking about last night the whole day. It was so fab discussing the interview and then it was even more marvellous because Sylvia came up and said she’d heard it all too. She adores him!!!

Anya and me put the doll’s jumper on, and practically swooned.

At dinner break Lucy and me got permission from Fraulein Titz (we asked her in German) to miss the lesson and see the film on last year's cruise instead. Mr Angel did the commentary, the photos were Miss Morse’s. So weedy: they had to wear school-uniform whenever they went ashore. We will have to, too.

I discovered the most fab thing today. When Adamo sings ‘Inch Allah’ about the "requiem pour 6 millions d'âmes” it all makes sense: it's about Israel after the war, where they planted 6 million trees for the 6 millions Jews who died.

Concentrated solidly on French the whole evening because of Oral tomorrow. At supper I said, in French, to Daddy, "let's speak French". So he said, "vous parlez de vacancies et Dutronc?" He's always mentioning Dutronc!!!

Listened to Europe No. 1 from 8.15 to 11, and that song of the Beatles came on while I was having a bath. It's ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' - not 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Fan'!
