ENGLISH WAS HILARIOUS
M O N D A Y, 1 5 M A Y
Felt miserable when I got up - German Oral and dentist tomorrow.
But English was hilarious. It was Robert Frost, and we did three poems Mrs Huggett can't stand. One of them is 'Hyla Brook'.
"By June our brook's run out of song and speed
Sought for much after that , it will be found
Either to have gone groping underground
(And taken with it all the Hyla breed
That shouted in the mist a month ago
Like ghost of sleigh bells and ghost of snow)
Or flourished and come up in jewel-weed... "
Anyway, Mrs H said, "If you do happen to write about this, say something like 'the fascination of this poem lies in the way the poet leaves us to wonder...'" In other words, don't bother to say what you think, be hypocritical when it comes to exams! German in the Lang. Lab was better than usual but I got a ghastly tummy ache - made me utterly miserable.
Had to go and have photos taken in the Hall, then stupid Miss Ball got cross with us because Miss Grant had given us the wrong time.
Felt much happier at home. Went for a walk round the garden - it looks wonderful - and did a lot of German Linguaphone which got me in the mood for the Oral. I even put the German radio on - first time ever.
Mouth watered, but otherwise reasonably OK. Dreading tomorrow.
