A DAY AT THE GRANDPARENTS
T H U R S D A Y, 7 S E P T
Wore the skirt I made, my white jumper, and orange chiffon scarf in my hair.
Ma, Chump and me drove down to Bosham and stopped in Chichester on the way. Looked for a German 'Key Facts' in W H Smiths, and bought it. So annoying they weren’t published in time for 'O' Levels.
Had quite a nice time at Granny and Grandpa’s because we had a fab lunch of pork with masses of crackling and all went into Chichester to see the library. It’s very modern, a round building and an excellent library but not marvellous architecture. Upstairs they’ve got a fab place just for working in. Wish we had a library like that. Afterwards walked round Chichester - I never realised how many lovely old buildings there are.
Later we went to Burnes Shipyard - a lot of snazz workmen around. Back for tea at Granny’s and left at quarter to six.
I was thinking today about age. It won’t be very long until I’m Mummy’s age. In fact, it sometimes staggers me how young I am - I feel as though I’ve been living for ages. At other times I can’t believe how old I am.
London Gandma’s present came today, at last. A fab coral necklace, it’s beautiful. Daddy picked it up, and a present from Karolina – a fab hanging witch on a broomstick. Wore my orange dress in the evening, it goes rather nicely with the necklace.
Listened a bit to Hubert interviewing Claude Francois on French radio. Most of the people ringing up wanted to know what he thought about hippies and flower power!
Mummy and me have decided on my yearly allowance: it’s going to be £100. Roughly £80 for clothes and £20 for presents. Of course, I shall save as much as I can for other things.
