THE SNOBBY RENAISSANCE

Glorious weather again.
At 12 Roly, Erika and the children (Clare 8, Louise 6, and Richard 5) came round for drinks. Chump and me played with the kids in the orchard. They're all terribly sweet, and Richard is a tough little nut! We also went round to The Grange next door - honestly, the crocuses are all coming out in the Nut Walk and they're a picture. There are millions of them.
Showed Roly and Erika my scrap-book of France last summer. They want to go to Roches Fleuries after seeing the pictures!!! I can't believe it but Erika's only 29.
They left, and we had lunch on the terrace. I read some of my Renaissance book - it's absolutely gorgeous. I've now decided to do my history essay on the spread of the Renaissance. It must have been lovely to live in a time when everyone was passionately interested in art and literature. On the other hand, the Renaissance did encourage snobbery and social class.
Went to bed at 9, miserable. The waist pains have come back.
