INGRID'S FIRST (AND ONLY) POLNAREFF LP
F R I D A Y, 2 J U N E
Anya's 'Mademoiselle Age Tendre' came today, with a gorgeous picture of Antoine in his 1928 Alfa Romeo.
All had to go to Hall in Form Period to be told the dreary details of 'O' Levels.
At dinner break Martha thrust her William Pitt novel on me again, and read out the story! It's quite good though, I should think she could get it published by one of the less reputable paperbacks.
After school Chump and me went to Rumbelows and got the Michel Polnareff record. There was this nutty man who pointed to the picture of Polnareff and said, "I like her!" Then he said, "have you got his latest record 'Ta Ta Ta Ta?' and started singing it in a droney way, it was so funny; then two more chaps joined in, and then a third, it was hilarious! We also bought 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band', and played them straightaway we got home. Honestly, Michel's is marvellous, it's got all the songs I love.
Did Silas Marner from 7 to 8.30, and stopped when the Holloways came. Mummy did a really fab supper of chicken casserole, new beans, potatoes, and strawberry tart. At 9.30 I went upstairs to work, and didn't stop till 12.30. Altogether I've spent about six hours on Silas Marner - that means I'll have to work 12 hours on both Sat and Sun.
The real 'O' Level is going to be even worse.
