Washed hair. It came out frizzy.

Listened to Rosko’s ‘Midday Spin' and as a tribute to Otis he played ‘Try a Little Tenderness’, which I’ve been waiting to hear for months.

I love King and Queen - the whole LP knocks me out. I’m absolutely MAD on ‘Ooh Carla, Ooh Otis’; the only songs I don’t really like are ‘Lovey Dovey’ and ‘New Year’s Resolution’. After lunch I played it because I just had to, but while ‘Let Me Be Good To You’ was on, Daddy said - “this is ghastly.” Of course, everyone’s entitled to their own choice, but when something means an awful lot to you and you’re told it’s ghastly it is a bit difficult to bear. And it’s difficult not to feel slight contempt for somebody who doesn’t know what you’re talking about when you say, “it’s soul”.

It made me feel frustrated for ages.

At last I got down to Use of English. It was hell - I couldn't do a single question.

The Simon Dee Show was super because Peter Cook, Dennis Norden and Alan Freeman were on. The first two reminded me of Greg and Alan in Rumbelows - even Alan’s humour is identical. Alan Freeman was terribly nice and grinned the whole way through. Peter Cook was wearing a Polnareff type shaggy jerkin, and was adorable. You get the feeling he’s laughing at everything, all of the time.
